Default Tonedexter and tuner... where?

When I put my Polytune 3 tuner pedal before the input of the Tonedexter, the sound is not as good as when I put the tuner pedal in the effects loop (an idea I hadn't thought about).

Perhaps I've gone round the bend (I can certainly see it from here) but I believe that I've discovered a tidbit of info.

Maybe the tuner changes the way that the Tonedexter sees the pickup.

The Polytune3 has a switch under the bottom cover that toggles between “buffered bypass” and “true bypass” modes. I’d be curious to see whether that has any effect. For instance, buffered mode is sometimes suggested as a way to correct the impedance mismatch between a K&K and certain preamps with too low input impedance.

Thank you! I'll play with it this evening. BTW, I use K&K in my guitar.
