I would take a look at the Guild Westerly collection. They are very well made in China and are beautiful. They can be had for your price point and there are a variety of models to choose from. Check them out!

You won't do better, and you won't worry about taking it camping either. A word about Guild archbacks, this is a design feature unique to Guild. Makes for a loud projecting guitar. Yes it's ply, but is it's own category, not necessarily done for economy, but that could be true too. Archback D 25s have many fans, and if I needed a gigging guitar for harsh environments, I'd consider this one.
