Crystal Clear Active pc speakers $500 for great sound.
Hi,
I looking for some Active speakers that can give crystal clear sound and in general an amazing sound experience for enjoying music (classical, Movie music, Piano, guitar, jazz etc) My budget is $500 So far I've considered these speakers Edifier 2000pro (nice but a bit muffled sound) ELAC Uni-fi UB5 Bookshelf Speaker (Amazing sound- crystal clear) Elac Debut B6 (nice and crystal clear) KEF LS50 (above my budget for sure, but nice sound, maybe i could find some used ones) Klipsch N 15PM Studio monitors: JBL 305P MkII I'm not sure if studio monitors is the way to go, since they don't modify the sound from the original recording. What are your recommendations and comments? |

I'm not an expert, but to me, active speakers and optimal sound seems to be a contradiction. If you want good sound, you want a proper amp, possibly a pre-amp, and passive speakers. Studio monitors, in my experience, do not make good speakers for listening to music. They're great for recording, obviously, but for enjoying well-mastered music recordings, not so much.

I agree with your point of view, however I am looking to get the best sound quality i can afford for the computer since I won't be using a passive system. I live in a small space and don't need huge speakers and can't afford a big system
