Default Feels like a NGD.

Finally switched the strings on my Martin 000-15m from Elixers to Martin Retros. Love the difference it made, also bit the bullet on a Bluechip pick. Beautiful combination!

Before I unloaded my 000-15 I had determined through years of testing that Retros and Silk & Steel were by far the best match with an all-mahogany guitar of that size. I currently have a new Waterloo WL-12MH that I plan on fitting with Retros as soon as the current strings (the ubiquitous EJ16s) wear out.

Wouldn't have anything else on a hog-top or archtop...

Nice! I got a new 000-15SM a couple of months ago. Went through a few sets of strings before settling on the Retros. They just seem to be made for mahogany guitars.

Retros are hard to beat on a mahogany guitar, for my money. Interestingly, I’ve used them on a couple of rosewood guitars on which I wanted calm down the overtones, which I don’t care for. Worked great.

Great feeling when you find the right strings, and pick, for a guitar. Same when you get a great setup. Enjoy your Martin!

... What's a good acronym for this? It's not a NGD but rather a .....?

Living in LA I’m fortunate to have Dave Neely to work on my guitars. He just put on a new nut on my first and oldest acoustic, my Lakewood. It has wider string spacing per my request. It feels and plays like a totally different instrument in a good way.

The Retros that I put on my 000-15SM in August (five months ago) finally started fading.

I still have a couple of sets of Martin Authentic PB, so I put a set of those on. They sound and feel okay, but I'm looking forward to going back to the Retros, probably in less than a month.

My motto is. "Happiness Is A New Set Of Strings".

I may have to post a Feels Like A New Guitar Dat of my own,
if and when I get my Guild D-55 back from the tech who is touching up the finish on it's top where an arm guard damaged it.

He has had the guitar for over 8 months no.
Not happy with this at all.
I fear that he is in over his head and I worry about the outcome.

I have D’Addario Nickel Bronze 12-53 on my 00-15m and I like them. I’ve tried D’Addario EXP 16, Martin Retros and the strings that came originally with the guitar.

I believe (if I’m not mistaken) that Ian Meadows used D’Addario NB for this 000-15m video. Have a listen.
