Default emerald shipping to the US

2 years ago i bought an X20 and received it in 7 days exactly. so i went to order an Amicus this week and there are now 2 shipping options. 7 days with tracking and 3-4 weeks without tracking. has anyone gone for the 3/4 week shipping? i was wondering how it was shipped . if US Post office is involved, that method is out. USPS has lost so many deliveries of mine over the years, and coincidently the USPS just advised us this past week that USPS deliveries will now take much longer than years past.

I think I'd go with the 7 days tracking. Emeralds are too expensive to risk it. My Emerald shipped last February and I think shipping was around $100 with tracking. Well worth it.

I agree with Frances, I’d also go with seven days and tracking. No tracking would make me nervous.

I went with the tracking upgrade on my most recent purchase. Given the cost of the guitar, the extra $100 for that peace of mind was well worth it to me.

That’s what it used to be - $95 with tracking. It’s now $195; the 3-4 week ‘where the heck is it’ option is now $95.

In Canada it doesn't matter which you choose, there is no tracking. UPS has the worst possible system here...it's all 'where the heck is it!'

UPS Canada (eg ups.ca) no longer exists and all packages to Canada are "tracked" via ups.com. There are 4 points on their "tracking" report: 1) order received, 2) order picked up, 3) order in transit and 4) order delivered. As recipient, there is no way to expand the "in transit" level and no scanned tracking is provided at all. There is a difference in Emerald's assessed cost and there may (or may not) be a difference in actual delivery time between those options but tracking, per se, no longer applies to any package here...

It's very (very) frustrating.

Phil

My apologies - this was a clearly US-centric response.

OCMV - Other Countries May Vary

No apology necessary, David. As far as UPS is concerned Canada may as well be just another US state. Emerald's options and pricing are the same here but lack of actual "tracking" means every shipment is 'where the heck is it' (and rates of exchange mean our poor service costs much much more!).

Maybe if I paid the additional shipping cost on my incoming Amicus I might see scanned tracking but both of my Emeralds (X30 in '20 and X20 in '21) shipped under the old system had no scanned tracking...
