K&K Pure Mini/ToneDexter... samples from a recent gig
Hi all,
I've been planning to share my experience with my K&K equipped guitars (in this case a Gibson AJ and Martin D35) and the ToneDexter. Rather than using vague terms to describe my overall very pleasant experience, I thought I'd just share a couple clips from a recent gig. (A friend of mine happened to attend and was kind enough to record the performance. Though it's not superb audio quality, I think it gives a sense of what an audience hears.) Feel free to post your thoughts! Garrett https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zbp1...eZUu05&index=9 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFzT...eZUu05&index=7

Guitar sounds great. Nice song too. I like that kind of soft harmony backup.

I’ve struggled for quite some time trying to have my guitars sound somewhat like themselves live. This setup is the closest I’ve come thus far.

Impressive sound! Where do you have the blend set?

That sounds great. . Was the sound just guitar into tonedexter into pa? Also what pa do you use? Those questions aside, you have a great sound all around. I dig the songs, guitar, vocals, and all. Well done.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Setup that day was Tonedexter straight into their house PA, which I believe was an older Mackie board with 12” speakers (nothing special). Tonedexter EQ was flat, board EQ was also flat, ToneDexter blend control was fully engaged at “2”.
So far I’ve just used an older Neumann km84, about a foot back, pointed at the 12th fret of all my guitars during “training”. Super easy, and I haven’t even messed around with other setups. The results have been excellent on all guitars thus far, and each manage to retain their unique acoustic personality when plugged in.

Here’s another song from that day that’s more uptempo and includes some heavier strumming. Hopefully gives you a sense of how this setup sounds when you push it a bit harder.

I used an old Neumann km84 from the 70s, about a foot back, pointed at the 12th fret. Easy-peasy

Very nice tone! No additional outboard gear with that? Just the K&K and the Tonedexter?
Wish you had recorded a tune that was a bit brisker, where you were actually hitting it harder, but those sound really good...

Those songs sound great my friend but i only can listen on my phone so i cant give a great assessment of the delicacies of tone,i can however say that to my ears, it sounds raw and honest and those lovely harmonies would stop me in my tracks to listen to you and your sister. Thanks, and sorry i cant be more helpful in your tone quest.( But it sounds good to me.)
