Glad you were able to make the visit and thanks so much for sharing. From your description I felt I was there (wishful thinking). Sure happy you are enjoying that Goodall. I'm going to get mine out today and play it in your honor Mike.

Great post, Mike. And wonderful photos as usual.

To have your Goddall inspected, set-up and tweaked by Mr. Goddall himself must be a trip, but making a friend in the process is the real special event here.

Always remember...

Guitars are great.

But friends are better.

Friends with guitars are even better than that.

And friends who build world class guitars are the very best of all!

Any idea what the yearly production numbers are for the Goodalls?

Per James, they are producing about 92 guitars a year.

I didn't know that they outsourced some aspects of the build process. Well, you learn something new everyday...
Hey Rye - I highly recommend a visit to the Goodall shop, as well as spending time touring around the N. Cal coast. It's a spectacularly beautiful area!

I know you have your gorgeous Brazilian Goodall for sale here on the forum! I'm shocked! Are you sure??????

Good choice with the K&K. I had one installed in my Goodall CJC...no regrets. Sounds terrific and lets me plug in easily on rare occasions I want to.

Default Goodall

There's a thread about that. If you search Goodall Serial Numbers it should pop up.

I finally got curious enough to look on a map and see exactly where Ft. Bragg is. They ARE way there aren't they? I half thought about "stopping by" the next time I visit my mom out in Seal Beach. THAT ain't gonna happen!

Goodall's production dropped quite a bit when they moved from Hawaii to Ft. Bragg, as it is now just James and Luke building the guitars. In Hawaii they had several employees helping them.

Yes, Ft. Bragg is out there, but it's a beautiful drive if you have the time.

Are you referring to the Seal Beach in San Luis Obispo county (near Hearst Castle)? That's less than an hour north of me. We just drove by there on our way home from Ft. Bragg. Lots of Sea Lions and pups right now. They are literally packed "wall to wall". It's quite a sight!

Default Goodall

I didn't realize there was one up there. No, I was referring to Seal Beach, Orange County, just south of Long Beach.

I guess there are several "seal beaches" in California! Probably any beach where the seals hang out, mate and have their pups is considered "seal beach"! It's good for tourism!

Ok - back to our regularly scheduled program......Goodall Guitars!🤓

Hey, Mike - - in the last picture of your original post, is that a 12-fret Long Dread in Honduran Rosewood/Adirondack? James finished it this past Wednesday, and it was shipped out to me on Thursday. I can almost smell the glue still drying.

Hey Larry - I don't think that guitar James is working is a 12 fret - it looks like a 14 fret. There were several guitar bodies hanging in a special closet that had recently come back from getting their urethane finish, awaiting final assembly (necks, bridge, etc), buff and polish. Im sure one of those was yours!
