Default Lowden F-50c (Master Cedar/Claro Walnut) *Hoffee case* Off the Market

Hey AGF fam,

Picking up a new commission next week and another is making it's way to the stable later in January so it's time to let one go to make room and recover some funds.

This 2012 Lowden F-50c sits proudly among the best-sounding examples from their shop that I have played - and there's been alot given my history demoing 50-series Lowdens regularly for Cedar Rock Guitar Gallery. It was one I honestly couldn't let get away. Not your average cedar/walnut build from them. The playability is right on the money, to boot. Excellent condition with only a couple small dings from previous ownership.

While this all may sound sales-pitchy, Al Petteway also stated in a previous Dream Guitars ad of this exact guitar that it was very special as well compared to most Lowdens. It has a big, but perfectly balanced low-end response and as a result there's a huge, clear, woody midrange that is to die for if you're a fingerstylist or singer/songwriter. There's a wonderfully remarkable voice to the trebles all up and down the fretboard which is one of the surest signs of an exceptional guitar, to me. I bought it with the sole intention of recording some tunes that I felt needed that rich, clear Irish sound.

Specs are as follows:

Nut: 1.78"
String Spacing: 2.36"
Lower bout Width: 15 7/8"
Body depth at end pin: 4.75"
Scale Length: 25.5"
Case: Hoffee in great condition, but not perfect. Scuffs here and there but otherwise fully functional as new.

Here is one of my finished recordings with a touch of reverb added and a small hint of secondary K&K pickup added for foundation. Recorded with Schoeps CMC6 MK4 microphones and minimal EQ into the interface, the voice is true to it's natural sound:

The guitar was built originally for Craig D'Andrea, who was one of the original fingerstyle guitar virtuosos that made Candyrat Records a viral success in the mid 2000's. It has a music note inlay at the 12th fret, which is something you won't see standard on any other Lowden.

I'm posting here before going to Reverb or eBay because of their cuts/sales taxes, and I also know a fellow forum member would appreciate this way more! Selling for 6800$ shipped via PayPal friend/gift to CONUS only. No trades please. Standard PayPal add % for fees. Have bought and sold a good many here so happy to provide references!

Shoot me an email at [email protected]

Thanks AGF!

Whoa! What a tremendous beauty and incredible sound! If only I could make it sing like you do!! So many things going on with that guitar - the cedar top, the gorgeous walnut grain, the F50 appointments and that otherworldly tone. Ticks a lot of boxes. Someone will be very happy! GLWS!!

I agree it's a special one. I had questions about the pickup and the Hoffee - it is a plain K&K pure mini and is fully functional, and the Hoffee is violet with gold interior. Only a couple scuffs, otherwise new. Has a thicker handle than the new Hoffee's as well, I should add.

Normally I'm a bit more in-depth with my sale ads folks, sorry I didn't post photos of fretwear (almost none to speak of) and the dings. Someone also asked saddle height which is 1/8" off the bridge at it's highest point. I'm not kidding when I say the setup is right on the money! Here they are along with a case photo per request. Email [email protected] for fastest response, thanks

A rare bird indeed. You just don’t find many Lowden’s with this string spacing. Making this one nearly one of a kind. GLWS!

Thank you! Rare indeed. It’s wider but doesn’t sacrifice the superb neck feel Lowdens are known for. Still comfy at 0.86” deep at 1st fret

I was asked to make a video showing the intonation of the guitar at the 12th fret and how it holds up in dropped tunings. Used DADGAD and CGCGCE. Held up very well, I think. Let you folks be the judge.

This beauty is still available. Previous buyer opted to return based on personal preferences. For those interested, the exact nut width is 1.78", so actually 1 25/32", however the thickness of the neck and width of the fingerboard are closer to 1.80 which a guitar with 1 13/16" nut width would have. The bridge spacing is 2.36", so just over 2 5/16 (2.31")

I was sure to remeasure and figured for anyone serious about their measurements this is worth noting. The neck depth is 0.86 at the first fret so not chunky but not a modern shallow neck like an Olson or Petros.

I would prefer serious buyers only at this point and would prefer not to return again or use anything other than PayPal friend/gift so I'm not robbed of the fees.
I would obviously accept a return if there was some kind of damage, have many references here for selling/shipping high $ builds.

I will lower the original asking price of $ shipped to lower 48 only, in efforts to restore funds after a recent trip/commission that set me back a good bit. It's now listed on Reverb at $7300, but I'd prefer it go to a forum member. if you wish to use standard PayPal please add the 0.03% in fees. Feel free to email [email protected] with any serious inquiries. Thank you!
