Arrow SOLD-Kinnaird Custom Bearclaw Euro/Cocobolo...Important UPDATE!!

SOLD!! Kinnaird Custom Bearclaw Euro/Cocobolo

This guitar was built in 2020 and would rank right up there with the best combination of features and tone I've experienced...and I've had a TON of experience with guitars of virtually every make and of course many of John's guitars. It plays extremely well and feels great while you're playing it due to the ergonomic features built in. Listen to the video demonstration by Al Pettaway and hear it for yourself. The guitar has a well-developed, Full and expansive voice. Guitar condition is mint

The woods:

Master grade Bearclaw Euro: The bearclaw doesn't "jump off the page", but it is very noteable and adds a classy "one off" appeal to this guitar. Similar to Engelmann spruce, with extra headroom and overtone warmth for a robust, mature sound and in very limited supply.

Master Grade Cloud Cocobolo: Cocobolo that is virtually never found in this pattern or design. A dense, stiff tropical hardwood from Mexico, cocobolo produces a fairly bright overall tone emphasized by sparkling treble notes. Sonically it resembles koa but resonates a little deeper on the low end. The tone is fast, responsive, and articulate. One firm said "Cocobolo is probably closer in tone, color and figure to the finest-grade Brazilian Rosewood used on the classic guitars of yesteryear than any tone wood available today"

Some other notable features:

West Coast Body Size
Three Bevels: one for the arm and two on the back for added player comfort. These are built of Ebony and are ergonomic small profilem arm bevel as well as ebony ergonomic, double Back Bevels
Florentine cutaway with unique wooden tip feature
1 3/4 nut width
Standard Scale length
String spacing at the bridge 2 1/4
Lower bout width 15 1/2
Ebony bindings
Side sound port
Back & side purfling lines
Gold EVO frets
Gaboon Ebony fretboard with abalone purfling
Cocobolo headstock faceplate with abalone purfling
Mini Gotoh tuning machines with black buttons
Sparkling abalone top purfling
Cocobolo & Abalone rosette
Rosewood bridge with rosewood bridge pins
5 piece laminated Walnut neck
Strap pins in neck and tail of guitar

EXTRA FEATURES:

FWI bridge pins (not shown in pictures-value $225). Pictures available upon request
Visenut Case-brand new near mint condition-blue interior (sell for approx $750 individually)

SOLD plus Shipping and Paypal (includes FWI pins and Visenut Case). No trades. I am open to reasonable cash offers.

Mike I may have missed it somewhere but I didn't catch the body size.

I love my JK Cocobolo / redwood West Coast. Gorgeous looking guitar you have there and I'm sure it plays and sounds every bit as good as it looks.

Smile Drooling here…

What a beauty! And from a lovely AGF gentleman and guitar scholar, too.

Hope you don’t miss this too much, Mike!!!

John’s work just keeps getting better, and it was fantastic long ago.

I see no way to go wrong here.

Best on this

Paul

You’re right!! Sorry about that. It is the West Coast body size which is my favorite. I did update my ad. Ya know, it’s big enough to have so MUCH more sound and yet small enough to just feel cozy when you play it. Of course you add those wonderful bevels and it’s really special.

It is hard to think of a luthier who offers better value for the money than John Kinnaird. I think his guitars are outstanding. I own two of them and have a third coming. And Mike is a great seller. One of my JKs came from Mike and I am very happy with it.

Smile Agent #99

Mike sold me John’s #99, which smoked anything I had ever played until then.

That axe launched at least a dozen JK custom builds I know of… Six of them for me! Hahahaha

and they just keep getting BETTER AND BETTER.

Cheers

Paul

Beautiful JK you have there Mike! I love the 3-D look of the rosette...very special guitar for sure. Not to mention Al Pettaway's demo really brings this work of art to life.

That video sure brings this one to life on a different plane. Or planet. Out of this world!

I think it would make an interesting thread "My Favorite Guitar purchased from Mike aka Woody". There are quite a few of us here who have sourced an outstanding guitar or two or "more" from Mike's stash. I would fall into the "more" camp. All were stellar guitars, honestly presented at very fair pricing.

Anyone who has played John Kinnaird's guitars at shows and especially recently at B.I.G., know that he is building at the top of his game right now. Mike shared with me how much he loved the sound of this guitar a while back so I was surprised to see him offer it up. Someone is going to get a gem of a guitar here.

Good luck with your sale Mike!

Thanks to the number of you who have reached out about this guitar via messages or email. I just have a "sense" that someone is close to picking this one up...

One person asked for a picture of the Visenut Case. I've also included a photo of the sweet FWI bridge pins I mentioned. Sorry they are just basic phone photos but hopefully tell the story.

Absolutely beautiful guitar. Offered by as good a guy as you can deal with.

Mike and I visited John Kinnaird's shop a few years ago. I watch how carefully Mike worked with John in planning the creation of these wonderful guitars. All of John's guitars are exceptional, I have owned more than a few. This one has all the bells and whistles.

This is a chance to pick up a very special guitar. Do yourself a favor!!
