My first guess (based on the body shape) was the Gibson Chet Atkins, but the fretboard is wrong...

I posted on your previous post that it's a Gibson Chet Atkins SST....the fretboard is right, actually, you can see the bigger star inlays toward the headstock.

I am pretty sure it is a custom made Taylor T 5. Prince had a couple of Taylor Acoustics custom made. He used a sunburst T5 in the studio on occasion. He also used a couple of Ibanez's, but the one pictured is no Ibanez.

It's a Gibson Chet Atkins SST. The Taylor T5 wasn't invented for like 15 years after those pictures was taken, so it's definitely not that.

I think they are not a current production item. Here's one on eBay, I have no idea if the price is reasonable:

They stopped making them a long time ago. There are a few iterations of them, but the latter ones were as shown in the Prince photo. Lots of the country players played them for awhile, Dave Matthews did for a long time, too.

They show up regularly on Reverb and stuff. Prices range from $1000-2000 typically. They are OK. They are heavy, very dead-sounding and unspactactular when unplugged, but sound pretty decent when plugged in. Nothing special in my opinion, but they have a mojo all their own.

THere are other things on the market I'd buy before I'd get one if I wanted a super thin guitar to play acoustic music, but that's me.

There's always a handful of them available at any given time. There was an epiphone edition for awhile, too that was, frankly, not really tons different in how it played and sounded to the Gibson one.

Thank you for the effort and for the honest comment!
Maybe then better look out for the Godin Acousticaster...

The acousitcaster from Godin is alright, I’m pretty sure they are discontinued in favor of their newer steel thin bodies, which sound and play better. I might look at Taylor T5, the new Acoustasonics from Fender, Renaissance from Rick turner and Crowdsters from Anderson, and definitely the best of the bunch in my experience from a value standpoint is the Carvin (new called Kiesel) thin bodied acoustics....though the newer Godin models are pretty great too.

There’s definitely some options in that category.
