I like the clip on type. I had a tuner which "listened" for the tone and then give feedback.. it was slow and didn't register half the time. You had to place it just right in order to pick up the sound. Now I have a Snark SN8 , which, from what I understand, uses the vibrations in the headstock to pick up the frequency of the strings. It regiters fast and every time. I'll never go back.

Snark...one of the few things you'll ever run into that's cheap and excellent.

I got the Peterson Clip on and it is awesome. It took awhile to get used to it and there were times when I wanted to throw it out the window but in the end I learned how to read it properly and now its my go to tuner.

Korg
I have the Korg AW-2, the Fishman FT-1, and the Korg is more accurate, and fast as heck. I test against the KorgTM-40. I like the flexibility of the Korg as well. Probably one of the higher end tuners(Korg), but well owrth it to me.
