I only expected to watch a few minutes of this, but I was totally entranced every step of the way. Could not stop, as every second revealed a new and fascinating aspect of the acoustic guitar's playing possibilities..
So much happiness expressed in his words of wisdom, his facial expression, his body movements and of course..he amazing playing.

Three things...

1. Tommy is such a gift to the music world, especially the guitar music world. What a gift!

2. Since I started watching Rick's videos, I listen to music in a completely different way.

3. Anyone else thinking that Tommy sounds really good on that Gibson?

And the end was the best.

You know how paleontologists have theorized that some dinosaurs had a small second brain at the base of their spines, just before the tail?

Well, I think TE has a second and a third brain in his wrists that control his fingers.

There is no other explanation for it.

Tommy's playing is part of what convinced me that fingerstyle is the "right way" to express the guitar as a polyphonic instrument with a broad range of dynamic capability.

It pains me that I stink so BADLY as a fingerstyle player.

I've told this story before about Tommy Emmanuel, but it's always worth telling again. The first time I took my daughter to see him was at the Walnut Valley Festival, in Winfield, Kansas. He was playing Stage 1, and rocked the place. He had everyone in the grandstand, and the ground in front, wanting more
After his set, he went over to an area reserved for entertainers to sell & sign their merchandise. My daughter wanted to go meet him, so we got in line. He was talking with each individual as they came through the line. We were almost up to greeting him, when he did something that I'll never forget.
The line was long , and I remember this lady pushing this little girl up in a wheelchair. They weren't in line, but was just wanting to get a glimpse of Tommy. This little girl had been badly burned, as the scars were painfully evident. Tommy was signing something for someone else, and just happen to glance up and see her.
This is where he won me over as a fan for life. He got up out of his chair, and walked around the table to the little girl. He bent down to talk to her face to face. What a powerful moment it was. It spoke highly of where his heart was. In that moment, he wasn't concerned about selling cds, t-shirts, or anything else. He was making a little girl's day.
I was just glad that I was there to see it. He's the real deal !

You're probably right. I was just commenting because shortly before he was saying how he wouldn't scratch up a guitar like that. Thought it was funny, that's all.

First, I am a huge fan of Rick Beato. Washed a lot of dishes here at home while watching his videos.

Second, Tommy is amazing. I’ve actually heard more of his music from watching AGFers doing his arrangements in the ‘show and tell’ section of AGF, but watching him was mesmerizing.

Third - fun fact - Tommy works on tough chord changes and I also work on tough chord changes, so really, you could say I’m a similar player to Tommy Emmanuel.
