I gave my kids and my dog names. The guitars came already named.
What he said. This question seems to come up every other month.

Default Farfaraway

I think that my guitar’s name is Farfaraway.

My wife always says, “Could you please play Farfaraway”.

My guitars talk to me. They call me, beckon me to pick them up and make music together. They talk when I lightly strum them to check tuning or find the subject of our conversation. Then we sing!

From a 14th century Elizabethan Lute in the Palace of Versailles is a note inside the Lute that I also place in the guitars I have made.

I was alive in the Forest.
I was cut by the cruel axe.
In Life I was silent.
In death,
I sweetly sing.

Names for them? Kinda sort of.
The consistent name for my Purple Pagelli, I call the Purple Guitar. My White Strat and Daphne Blue Strat are commonly called my friend. My beloved Taylors and PRS's are simply loved and the relationship will continue on the beautiful course we are on together. In that pursuit, circumstances will name them accordingly. Similar I guess to a Native American father of old days in naming their children.

Not too much into names...but, my Doerr Legacy acquired a name: "Noelle".....Tom started the build on Christmas Day!!
The only other name floating around here is my wife's name for the Bamburg FSC....."the one I don't like" LOL!!! You can surmise that it's not the tone, but that one additional instrument that wasn't supposed to be!!

Yup, some of 'em. I'm not that creative, so they tend to be named after their color.

Blackie
Brownie
Butters
Ashely (it's made of Ashe)

I used to back up a fellow who played a Martin D-18. He called my '73 Guild D-25 "the Golden Egg."

Not sure why.

Hadn't thought much about it but,
many moons ago I had a '73 Challenger that I named 'Crazy Sally' after a girl I once knew. Alas, both are gone.
My Yamaha top is aging to 2 different shades of color, I suppose I could call it Sybil. [emoji41]

Yes I do name them. There have been so many in my collection over the past year. Her name is Sharon.

Back in 1981, I think that it was more popular to name your guitar.
I was and still am a huge fan of John Denver.
With all that said, I named my Martin D-35 Jessie.
Why?
John used the name Jessie in several of his songs.
To me, Jessie was all of his secrete loves.

I am currently having a guitar built for me out of Zebra wood.
The builder gives all of his builds a name to help him remember each build.
I chose Zoie for my guitar.

When our kids were younger, we played at naming things as kind of a fun, silly game. We named our two family cars - battered Toyota Corollas - Morty and Ferdie, for example, after the Mickey Mouse nephews. But we never named my guitar. Not sure why.

If you asked my two guitars what their names are, they would likely say "I'm Sorry," and "I'm So Sorry," because that is what they hear me say the most when I hold them.
