While I miss some acoustics I have sold, I don't really regret any of them as I think I have slowly moved toward instruments that work better for me.
Electrics, on the other hand, have seen me swing and miss a little more often.
My regrets include two PRS guitars - a relatively plain-looking Korina McCarty and a JA-15. That Korina McCarty, as I have come to discover, was quite the guitar. I wanted more PRS bling, so I traded it. The beautiful quilt blue PRS is long gone and not missed, but I miss that Korina McCarty.
I was not quite ready for the JA-15. If I had that guitar back today, I think I would make better use of it and become pretty attached.

Basically this. Once I make a decision, I stand by it and don't look back. I've sold a couple of one-of-a-kind guitars and could still replace them if I felt the need with something that would do the job. No regrets. Live for the future, not the past.

Ive let a few get away. One was a mid 90's Taylor 855. A beautiful guitar which was an extremely easy 12 to play.
My biggest regret is a late 80's Yamaha LL-45. A fantastic guitar all the way around. It had a very small scratch that I recognized years later in an ad where the guitar was for sale.
Unfortunately, The ad was expired and besides I didn't have the money to buy it back.

A Martin OMM John Renbourn. Alpine spruce over Madagascar R. That one had a tone like no other. I let it go because it was a slothead, & I don't care for slotheads. Now I wish I would have changed my persuasion.

Might sound pathetic, but it’s my Simon & Patrick Woodland Cedar 12 string, strung as a 6 string. Had it for 12 years, sold it for $180. Should have kept it, awesome beater I had for a long time.

I’ve only sold two guitars.

One was my 2005 Taylor 210. I bought it back from my understanding and unsurprised friend within 48 hours and won’t make that mistake again.

The other was a Fender Baja Telecaster that I loved the sound of but not the boat anchor weight of. I traded it towards an Epiphone Casino. Bought another Baja Tele seven or eight years later — this one coming in under 7.5 pounds.

So I can’t really say I’ve regretted either sale since I got both guitars back, more or less, sooner or later.

A signed and numbered Eric Clapton OM. I sold it back to the AGF member that sold it to me, but I miss it a lot.

My first guitar...a new 1964 Gibson LG0 my parents bought me for my 14th birthday. I owned it for 12 years until my then wife convinced me to sell it so we could get something she claimed we needed.

I regret it to this day.

Similarly, Mine was an 000-15 that was really damaged and I restored it and it played like magic. I didn't love the narrow nut and sold it. Regretted it and, bought another, sold it, bought the original back, sold it, bought another, sold it, bought another, sold it.....sigh......

This amazing koa OM-42.

Nicest Martin I’ve ever owned. Bought it from an AGF buddy a few years ago and sold it to put the money into another guitar. But still miss it.

I take comfort in knowing that the guy who bought the OM was pretty pleased by it.
