Anyone try D'Angelico prohibition bronze?
A better question would be "did anybody use D'Angelico's in the mid 70's"? I put on a light set (D'Angelico) (12 16 25 34 44 54 - 85/15 bronze) night before last and I must say they are loud, but much harder to play compared to D'Addario EJ11's 80/20 or even EJ16's both being 12 16 24 32 42 53, (smaller gauge) and finger tips got sore after only 30 min.
I used to use D'Angelico mediums in the 70's and I can't remember having sore finger tips even with 13's. Their about 10 bucks per set, so probably not a whole lot of people use them. |

Back in the Seventies I did use D’Angelico strings occasionally, particularly when I was experimenting with open tunings. With their medium gauge set they had an especially heavy low E string, a .058 or a.059, if I remember correctly.
But I haven’t even seen any D’Angelico strings in years and years, probably not since then. Be that as it may, to answer your question I don’t remember them being any more difficult to play than any other strings made back then, once that heavier low E string is taken into account.
