Yes. Less nasty stuff to work with though, especially for do it yourselfers.
Even with the rockwool, when I first put up the panels I felt it was a good idea to run a room air purifier 24 hours a day for a week.

I would imagine particularly if you are cutting any of it.

ATS Acoustics has a nice comparison of the absorption characteristics for a number of materials:

http://www.atsacoustics.com/page--Se...erial--ac.html

I ended up using the Roxul Rockboard 80, 4" thickness. It's apparently better at the low end than some other materials:

Acoustical performance sound absorption co-efficients to ASTM C423.
Sound Absorption Co-efficiences at Frequencies
Thickness (inches) 125 Hz 250 Hz 500 Hz 1000 Hz 2000 Hz 4000 Hz NRC

(sorry, I didn't know how to insert the table and keep the formatting)

Ya I don't know how to format charts either so I just do a screen shot and then import into photobucket.

But yes the more inches the more t lower freq's are absorbed. Which is also why some bass traps are designed to fit a 45 degree angle to fit into corners and at floor and ceiling seams and be thicker right at the seam
