All C&W music from, not including modern country, back in time to Gene Autry and back further are great played on any instrument. Old country tunes sound great on accordion and the piano. As I am re-learning guitar I play all old country tunes.
Let's not forget bluegrass, folk, and old mountain music. Wow, all of the above is such great stuff for an acoustic guitar. Yes, I am an old bugger - do you remember the tune that starts out "There stands the glass, it's my first one today, it'll ease all my pain. . .and something like that. It is the first country song that I can remember hearing on radio.

I really don't care too much for country music anymore, but when I was learning to play guitar in the late 80's/early 90's, that's what I was in to. Plus most of them only have 3 or 4 chords, so they were great for a beginner. Here's some I learned in my first couple of years playing guitar. Many of the sappy ones were learned to woo the fairer sex.

Since you do some Kenny Chesney songs, I do "Anything but Mine" My kids that hate country like that song, though they're not fond of the country twang voice of his. I dont' sing with a twang....

Haven't seen "When I Stop Dreaming" by the Louvin brothers.
A couple of corrections: "Pancho and Lefty" and "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" were covered by Willie, but he didn't write them. "Pancho and Lefty" was written by Townes Van Zandt and "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" was written by Fred Rose sometime in the '40s. Willie's cover is the best of "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" IMO. When it comes to Townes, no one can top hiim performing his own songs. I've been sitting here on break at a temp job listening to "Live at the Old Quarter" on my MP3 player. Recorded almost 33 years ago and still timeless.
