On this board I read that Deadwood Guitar Company,
just a day trip away from me on nice country roads in
Georgia, has made a guitar with a yellow pine top before. I
plan to make a day trip over there soon.

I visited there a couple years back. Jason was very welcoming.
He had a hemlock-topped guitar that I really liked.
I like the use of local-ish woods - I’m using some in my current build.

Since there is a potential windfall in my future, I have been thinking about this...and Emerald is the brand that is calling me (admittedly, I have become a fan of carbon fiber)

Well, if I was going for filling a couple of musical choices that I do not yet have, I might order a Mule resonator and either a Brooks Masten 5-string banjo or one by Jason Romero.

If I wanted to use the money on a vintage instrument, I have always wanted a 1951 Gibson CF-100.

If I were going to go with the idea of heritage and a guitar, I would probably go to Northern England, Ireland and Wales and spend some time where my grandparents are from and have a custom guitar made by one of the accomplished luthiers from that area.

Then there is always the great feeling that comes from buying a bunch of wonderful guitars and giving them away to folks who are passionate about guitar and do not have the means to own a decent one.

Lots to dream about for sure.

Best,
Jayne

I paid £2200 for mine used with some very minor wear and tear, you should be able to get it for a better price than that.

This shop is selling one new for £2950.

Welcome to AGF! Now show us your Mcnally!

My windfall guitar would probably be a Pre*War 000 mahogany.

I really don’t need another guitar so it would need to be a quite significant windfall! I’d quite like a vintage Gibson parlour guitar.

Might be a Martin OM-18A. I still think about one I played at Vintage Instruments in Philly. Didn't have the spare change at the time, and still don't, but I tell/kid/fool myself into thinking there might be a convergence in the amount of time I have left to play as well as money to spend that occurs before I step off-planet, so to speak. Such stuff ...

I'd like to have a guitar made by Michael Bashkin.

OK, windfall....I'll be waiting.

My local dealer should get some Waterloo : I long to try them !
I also long to try a Yamaha LL-26.
But recent extra expenses (new car !) refrained my GAS mood... :-/

Congratulations on your McNally guitar Stephen!! Welcome to AGF too.

I’ve yet to play one but have spoken a bit with Ciaran and follow his builds on FB and Instagram. Gorgeous guitars!

Collings parlor guitar in mahogany, or a vintage Gibson (or both, if the windfall is big enough.) Otherwise, I am fine with what I already own.
