Experimental treatment for dry cracked hands
My hands were very dry and cracking. I don't know what possessed me to try this... but it worked! Absorbed into the skin almost immediately; faster than Jergens. Almost no residue. I suppose I should look at the ingredients before further use... But I had to try it

Ironically, although Leather Lotion isn't a skin product, it does contain lanolin oil which helps soothe dry or dehydrated skin. Lanolin is an emollient (which means it has the ability to slow water loss from the skin), and is extremely hydrating. It helps soften skin to help improve the appearance and the feel of rough, dry, or flaky areas. Lanolin is secreted by sheep skin in order to condition the wool (and it's obtained by extraction from sheep wool).
I'd suggest switching to a skin-specific product, formulated with lanolin and also humectants (chemicals that extract water from air, such as honey, aloe or glycerin). A skin product also helps you avoid any skin-unfriendly formula ingredients that may be in Leather Lotion. You found a good direction for healing and conditioning your skin! |

I would be nervous about this. Leather doesn't tend to get skin cancer or liver failure. I would not want a leather care product being absorbed into my body in any significant quantities!
The "Caution, do not ingest" in block capitals right on the front of the bottle rather than small print on the back should tell you that it is not meant to be inside you!!!

Working outside in winter having to take my gloves off, my hands and fingers cracked alot. I started using Neutrogena Hand Cream. Not greasy, washes off easily and works well. I put it on at night and sometimes during the day.

It's made for FAR more sensitive skin than your hands.
