It is just shy of 6:00A.M. where I am. It is -22° F. The wind chill is supposed to go to -50° F.

Only critical services are operating today. Normally, I would be at work now. The decision was made late yesterday that the company would close today.

Going nowhere today. What should I do?

I know... I could play guitar!

It's -16 F here this morning here in Iowa. Hopefully my outside car will start. It's supposed to warm up to +2 F today. This should be the last day of really cold weather for us though.

25 degrees here in CT... It's gonna get down to single digits by tonight (Wednesday) with wind chills well below zero.

I've got the wood stove prepped & ready. There's sufficient wood near the house to handle 3-4 days of frigid cold in order to minimize my need to go out in the yard to the wood pile.

It is -18 here in NW Indiana right now. Wind chills in the -50 range. Spent about 20 minutes outside about 5 AM this morning (but out of the wind). Felt pretty chilly for this old guy (71), but not as bad as I had anticipated.

It's only -1 here but I added a bunch more straw to all the coops, stalls, pens, etc to help all the critters stay warm. Brrrrr.....

22 below zero here. At work, most of our suppliers canceled deliveries for today. They gave us the option of coming in or not. I'm at home drinking coffee.

I went out an hour ago and started my car, just to make sure it would. It groaned a bit, but fired up fine. I let it run for about 10 minutes, so if for some strange reason I should decide to leave the house, I'm good to go.

It's supposed to be a repeat weather wise for tomorrow. Full Brass Monkey Alert. Saturday through Monday the forecast is 35-40 with a chance of rain.

Whoa Nelly! Got down to 50 last night here in SW FL. At least the wind quit blowing and I won’t have to throw on a jacket, this long sleaze T shirt should suffice.

My social media feed is full of phone screen shots in a range of -29 to -25. The best is Madison Police Dept's.

"Due to the extreme cold and wind, the Madison Police Department is canceling all misdemeanor and felony criminal activities.

Criminals, please take note, it is too cold to commit crimes. Stay inside and read, watch Netflix, go on Madison Area Crime Stoppers and help catch other criminals, anything, but for the love of polar bears, do not go outside and commit crimes."

I sure feel sorry for all those folks in areas that have lost power and don’t have heat. What the heck are they supposed to do? This is definitely a life threatening situation for these people.

Yes, but on the lighter side, when I saw all the business closings and predictions for windchill, my own was prediction was an uptick in babies born later this year.

Just remember cotton is of almost no use for insulating the human body , Seems like I read somewhere more people suffer hypothermia in the temperature ranges of 43 to 53 F than other 10 degree range. Be safe in your winter chill

That just so happens to be the predicted temperature range for my place in north central Florida today. Yesterday started colder at 36 degrees, but it still feels pretty chilly now to an old a gator-hugger like me. Guess I'll be cranking up the fireplace again tonight. Hope all you northerners stay safe and warm.
