I know you had played and even almost owned a few guitars costing more than double/triple your Michaud during the build process so I'm relieved to see what you had to say about your OM-R! Also glad to see many new Michaud owners chiming in

Without further ado, here are some photos of this legendary instrument:

Stay tuned for more!!
Hey Marcus,

Wow.

To me that looks like the Platonic ideal of a modern fingerstyle guitar!

Default Gorgeous

This incredibly gorgeous. I have had the privilege, thanks to Marcus, of playing some of Joel’s guitars, and I have to say they are among the very best guitars I’ve played. I was never one for a Florentine cutaway, and always preferred the Venetian counterparts, but if I would change my mind it would be because of Joel’s take on it.

Looks like a keeper! Please post some sound clips!

Played like butter with a monster tone!
That's awesome that you were able to play my guitar! I agree with your assessment

I'm the same as you in fact I asked Joel if he would do a venetian but I'm glad he went with the florentine. It stands out in its own way and is part of the ethos of his aesthetic, imo.

For a short while I had a MM so I think I can comment. I like the fact that he kept the guitar simple so as not to detract from the beauty of the wood. Every piece of wood has something beautiful about it. When you put shell and weird designs on a guitar that becomes the focus instead of the guitar. Beyond that I will say that I dont like cutaways but this one I do like. No I wouldnt have a guitar built with a cutaway but this one somehow manages to look good.

Beautiful guitar. I agree 100% with your statement about simple and elegant, lets the focus be on the wood. I am currently having a dreadnought built by Ken Hooper with The Tree back and sides, and a John Arnold Smokies top. Just as you, keeping it somewhat simple for the most part.

Funny thing is , I play with a pick all the time and it responds beautifully! I dare say more than my Collings OM which is a wonderful guitar !
