Default Chord voicing question

I am working on a fun but challenging arrangement https://www.google.com/search?q=gabr...bile&ie=UTF-8#

There is an Asus4 voicing at the end of the intro that is tab'd out at 12 12 11 14 0 x in the DADFAD tuning.

I have been finding that voicing challenging to finger and have moved the 4th string E to a D at 12th fret.

I can't hear much difference in that voicing at all.

My question is from a theory standpoint is there an intent behind duplicating the Es?

The only thing that have thought of is that the unison may produce a slight vibrato effect.

My brain just liquified and nearly leaked out my ear, until I realized you wrote the chord from high to low

Anyway, not really, just sort of fattens up/reinforces a sound...they way you've chosen to do it just doubles a different note, so probably sounds fine.
