If I may jump in.. in 12-string form it is the most balanced 12-string I have ever played. Sometimes 12 strings can be a little "chimmey" for lack of a better word. I found their 12-string still had amazing lows and wonderful highs that 12-string can bring. Easily my fav 12-string acoustically :-).

I recently bought a new Rainsong Jumbo with N2 neck to go along with my Carbon fiber collection which now includes in addition to an Emerald X20, a Rainsong Parlor, OM, Shorty, CO-WS N2 and CO-WS N1 Black Ice. All my Rainsongs have the unidirectional carbon soundboard. It is interesting how different they can be from one another. I must say though that the Jumbo is my all around favorite. It is extremely well balanced, yet if you dig in it just keeps coming up with more- and though it is large, is extremely light. I've had a couple Emeralds including the X20 I have now that are very nice but the Rainsongs are my go to instruments. I play standing up and the low weight is a big advantage, especially over the McPherson, and I just find the Rainsongs to be exceptional. I would say that the Jumbo is the best of all!

Not much direct experience with the JM-1000 (other than short test plays in a store). But I have a lot of time on a DR-1000 dreadnought and my WS-1000 which was bought new in 2001. I have been up close and personal with David Wilcox's custom JM signature model and it is truly wonderful sounding.

The Emerald X30 is quite nice -- especially the ergonomics -- but that low E string is so overpowering and boomy. (I also had to fix the ultra-low buzzing factory setup, but that wasn't a big deal). The X30 just wasn't working for me, at least without changing my playing technique around the bass E string. Changing technique for one guitar did not seem prudent. Given a choice I would take the Rainsong Jumbo over the X30 every time. I sold X30 to a friend who likes it a lot.

I have some sweet Martin dreadnoughts, but my Rainsong Jumbo is my main gigging guitar over the last few years. Don’t worry about heat or cold, don’t worry about a minor drop, and it amplifies well when you dial in some eq. Sounds even better unplugged. I recently bought a black ice 12 string to add some variety to my act.
