So Mike, design what you'd like and swing it by Alistair. He's been pretty much involved with acoustic instruments but more recently he has been nudging his was toward electric.

Alistair has made a few electrics that are famous for their design in Asia.
They were not stock items--purely custom builds head to toe. He once mentioned in this forum or the old forum--long ago--that he loved building electrics. But I think the market for CF electrics is very, very small in comparison with acoustics. Lots of competition out there and the advantages of CF don't seem that impressive compared to that found in acoustic builds. Electrics are already pretty solid, moisture resistant, hard to break, and all the tone is basically dialed in--acoustic sound or whatever else you want, so sonic properties of CF are moot. Ergonomics--not too important since most electrics are are barely past 2 dimensions anyway--easy to hold and play--especially with super light strings. Maybe a really lightweight CF build might have some interest for a few people--but is that enough to convince most electric players to pay CF prices? Maybe CA will resurrect the blade someday. I'm sure Peavey has the know how in their files somewhere. But there may also be a reason they haven't done it yet. |
