Default Two days, no new posts??

Wassup with that?? We're in the desert and the weather has been crap - I could use some CF guitar content to keep me from wandering through the online guitar sales. Somebody must have a question about an Emerald, McPherson, RainSong or other CF guitar. A NGD? Heck, I'd even read a "what strings?" thread.

See above (or below, depending on your viewpoint)

Well, slow in talking about 'em online, but there was playing in our house... um, motorhome, today.

Hey Captain Jim. I have some exciting news. I just received an email from Emerald that an X20 that I custom ordered is ready to ship. This one has a koa veneer and amber color back and sides. They sent a link to this photo:

I recently got another X20 in all black carbon fiber which I’m really enjoying.

Goodness, that is gorgeous! Congrats on the incoming!

That looks like lava flowing through that beautiful koa.

I knew there would be some fun stuff to talk about today!

Thanks Captain Jim! I’m very excited. I used to live in Hawaii when I was a kid. My dad bought a couple Kamaka ukuleles that he liked to play. They were made of koa. That’s part of the reason I wanted to get the koa veneer. This will be my first CF guitar with a wood veneer top.

Sorry Jim, I've spent the last several days preparing to release a Folk album on Bandcamp.

If it helps any, we did use two Rainsongs, and my wife's Farallon Uke.

Every post matters! Carbon fiber and ekoa matters! Bandcamp matters!

Compared to the General Acoustic Guitar Section there are far fewer topics that generate posts here like…

Humidity (high, low, ideal) effects on tone, swelling/cracks, fret sprout, truss rod adjustments, etc.
Temperature effects, finish cracking, etc.
Help identify this guitar, value for vintage model, etc. questions
Are Boutique (+$5,000) brands, or even more expensive custom build options worth the extra $$$?
How long does it take for a carbon fiber guitar to “open up” (a trick question)
Binding separation
Variation of tone/sound for the same exact model of guitar, for example a Martin D-18

And so on…

What we need is someone to pop in here and start talking about plastic sounding guitars. That would liven things up

I had an Ovation for 14 years as my only acoustic at the time. And then I got on guitar forums and found out I needed "tone woods." And more guitars. That led me to getting various wood guitars. They were nice. Then, I discovered carbon fiber. So, now people think I have a "plastic guitar" again???

Kidding, of course. In all those years of having an Ovation, not one single person said anything about it being "plastic"... until I got on a guitar forum. Same with my CF guitars. For the first 40 years or so of guitar playing, I think I owned a grand total of a half dozen or so guitars, one electric and one acoustic at a time. I also didn't know I needed all these different guitars... until I got on a guitar forum.

What have we learned here?
