As a follow-up, jklotz is a boss and I thank him for the meet-up!

I'll be ordering an X20 as soon as the yearly bonus is paid.

I see you are a fan of the Emerald guitars!

Bonus could buy more Emerald's than I deserve.

Maybe you will have time to try a McPherson before that bonus arrives?
Just saying...

Hmmm...Nashville is the closest dealer. I mean...I could go for some Merchant's and a visit to Carter's.

But no, I don't see anything in the specs to turn me away from the Emerald. That vibrant weave in amber was VERY easy on the eyes in person!

The McPherson is within $600 of a decked-out X20 with every feature I could want.

Yep, I get it, the Emeralds are beautiful and very easy on the eyes, a work of art. The sable looks OK with the honey comb and is very easy on the ears. Enjoy that X20 and post a lot of pictures !!

Vibrant weave back and sides in amber.
Trinity knots in silver.
Ghost piezo bridge.
Pau Ferro top.

Looked smashing in the 3D builder...we'll see.

Everything else is stock.

Excellent. You’ve made it your own with a few simple choices.

I wonder if Emerald tracks option combinations? “Oh, this is the third one we’ve built exactly like this”

That's a good question...how do they serial number such genuinely unique things? I suspect it's just the nth X30 and they keep a record of the options ordered and who ordered it. Too hard to embed all that in a serial number.

There was a yt vid where Alistair asked the viewers to calculate the possible options. My engineering mind was OK with that challenge until I realized I'd have to calculate in the slider bar on the veneer tops...and you can invert that.

Oh, if it matters to anyone who stumbles across this thread, you can get locking tuners for an additional $50. Top-tightening, like the PRS/Godin ones.

…except that Emeralds can go a long time before going out of tune.

As an aside, I would recommend that you consider adding a Krivo humbucker to your X30. I have one on mine and I love it. It replaced an LR Baggs Element pickup. Only issue these days is that Krivo no longer sells their humbucker to individual buyers so if you want one then your sole option is to have it as part of your original order. Oh, and if you do end up choosing to go down that route then be sure to ask to have roller wheel volume and tone controls installed for the Krivo.

Well, she's here!

Gotoh 510 lockers are a bit different than all the other lockers I have used...had to go find the manual. "Ohhhhhhh..."

She's very loud and very...dark...maybe not dark but, the bass is huge compared to my Seagull S6, which I thought was pretty dark.

Lots of variation playing this guitar near the neck vs near the bridge.

There's something about the neck profile that is mucking with my accuracy.

I'll play with her for a while in standard and then go to DADGAD which every X30 owner tells me is their personal space.
