Default First string change...

...for my X20. It now sports a set of D'Addario Nickel Bronze Lights, which not only sound rather good, but also look rather fine. Definitely an upgrade from the stock EXPs for my tastes. I loved being able to reach in through the sound hole to make sure the ball ends were seated properly

Yeah I gave those strings a try a while ago and I did like them but I found they didn't last very long (maybe I got too used to Elixir). They do give you a sticker in the pack though!

For my X20 I like Galli AJF1047 Extra Light 80/20 Bronze Flat Wounds.
They've been on since 9 Jan 18 and still holding up very well.

I'm using Martin Monel Retro lights on both my Rainsong jumbos - takes out a lot of the "in your face" high-end steeliness both plugged-in and acoustically - and since I understand the NB's are tonally similar it sounds like a good combination...

How do they compare to round wound strings for tone and tension?

It's been sooo long since I've used round wounds I could not make a fair comparison, but IMHO the Galli have a warm pleasant tone and long sustain.
I use these string on 24" scale and 25.5" scale acoustics but have no info on the tension load values of each string, sorry.
However, half semi tone string bends are very easy on any string for me on either scale length.

Just put a set of Martin Monel Retro Lights on my Emerald x20. Definitely an improvement! So, thanks for the suggestion...!

Put some Martin LifeSpan 2.0"s PB's on the X20 a month ago....they have impressed. Started out a bit bass heavy, but have mellowed into a very good string for this guitar. Preferred over the Elixirs.
