Default Windy & Warm on an OM-21 Special

Well, it's always a bit risky to play a classic that's been played by so many people. I'm still new to the recording world and thought I'd experiment with the Zoom H4N a bit more.

Here's my rendition of Windy & Warm:

Would love your comments!

Until just a minute ago, my guitar was doing all sorts of crazy things. But right after I posted number 667, it stopped...

Thanks for your feedback. I'll try to post a better version soon.

What's not to like. Nice arrangement, recording sound and of course playing. If interested check out Guy Van Druser's "Cindy and Norm" which reminds me a lot "Windy and Warm".

Like Rick said ..."What's not to like". I heard nothing wrong with your first recording

I liked it a lot; much more interesting than the version I play. It doesn't sound like the Chet Atkins arrangement, more like Tommy Emmanuel. Good job.

I'm with Rick and Mesa ... nice work. I wouldn't call that a 'do-over' at all.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I usually play a more energetic version but will have to experiment with microphone placement.

Chet Atkins' version "swings" a bit more while TE plays like Loudermilk.

I took the rhythm and most of the riffs and fills from TE. Among differences, my bassline is more present than TE's version and I improvised the outro solo.

I thought you played it well and kept it interesting with the variations. Just watch your timing. It sped up and slowed down a few times, mainly during the busy parts. You definetely have a nice touch.

Follow up!

That's what an acoustic guitar should sound like (IMO), natural warm and woody, not hidden under effects.

Nice OM-21 Joe! Nice playing!

Great playing, wonderful tune. And you confirmed that the OM-21 is on my short list of guitars to purchase. Great clean sound.

Great job,
JackL

Very nice. I agree, it's very close to Tommy's recording, but you definitely added your own touch to it.

That song is so much fun to play. On the version that I covered I combined traditional with Chet's and Tommy.
