Those are brave words for a first post! Welcome aboard!

Further up in this thread, I said that I should've named it "Two Guitar Necks At Once", or something like that. Now when I look at the title of thread, it looks like I'm just being another troll on a message forum.

I didn't think about it at the time but, this board got started as a Taylor guitar meeting place for people. Leo Kottke plays a Taylor. Where would you find more Leo Kottke fans than at the acoustic guitar forum?

Excuse me while I extract my size 14 (European foot size 47?) foot from my mouth.

I see your point of view though, and I wonder; Do we have a Generation Gap? in progress here? Gen-Xer's and "late-boomers" who grew up with Kottke may be be hatin' on the "Jay-King Style" yo!. In this thread, it sounds as if Justin King is being "D4mned by Faint Praise" as the old saying goes. Justin Kings "repetitive" and Leo Kottke's not? And Leo Kottke's all about the melody lines? but not Justin King right?

Remember, "Beyond Leo Kottke" simply means covering ground that Kottke hasn't, or doing things that you are not likely to see Leo Kottke do live. So that's a GOOD thing. "Beyond Leo Kottke" is a POSITIVE statement. If we were all just copying Kottke, Leo would go insane.

It's not a comparison of better or worse.

I still want to to see an ensemble contest. Take all the artists from Candy Rat Records and pit them against world famous classical guitarists and when the dust settles, the survivors can go up against Pat Martino. I would definitely buy tickets and DVD's for that.

more accurately, "better" should carry the following criteria in addition to technical ability - feel, soul, ingenuity, flexibility, content and, most of all, your music gets a reaction out of your audience.
Just for clarification, your point was my point, exactly. Of course my earlier comments provide the requisite context to the one sentence of mine you quoted.

I've got to back this guy up. Just cause youtube only has movies of his tapping stuff doesn't mean he doesn't play anything else. On his Album Le Bleu are 3 song wich feature tapping. The Album contains 19 songs.
