Lost guitar by FEDEX
What happens when fedex cant find your guitar? Lost in the either never lands.
It is a very high $$$$ guitar made in the original Surf City USA. Not even a response for two days now. |

Going to someone else or coming to you? Where does the tracking # show for the last location? How far did it make it?

I'm assuming the guitar was shipped fully insured. If not...hmm, could be outta luck. If so you or the seller...not sure of the specifics...will have to file a claim. If deemed lost, it doesn't generally take long for the insurance to pay out. Hope it works out for you!

Any more UPS, FedEx, USPS.... all get behind on updates and it might show no movement for 3, or more, days. Dude, Cop a brownie and put your feet up. It'll show.

Good news is with Fedex you will deal with Fedex employees, not a 3rd party like UPS for USPS.
They "lost" a pair of PA speakers I shipped to a forum member in Chicago a few years back. 28 days later they "found" them again after they had issued a refund. Be persistent, but somewhat patient, it will likely work out. If you have a local hub (Fedex staffed location) go there and plead your case, especially if it's the place you shipped it from.

If I'm a betting man, I'm betting it shows up. FedEx employees don't seem to be able to find the earth when they jump in the air sometimes.

Sometimes a Fedex/UPS location will forget to scan it. More often than not it shows up unannounced. This happened to a guitar I had shipped from the East Coast to California last year by UPS. The buyer was nervous and rightfully worried he had been scammed - beyond my shipping receipt there was no proof of a guitar making its way westward. But it all worked out fine in the end and hopefully there is a happy ending here too.
That said: insure with Heritage. Especially if you are buying, shipping or selling high value guitars. I insure my cars, and I'm sure Fedex drops more of my packages than people who rear end me in traffic. So there is no reason not to insure guitars which are infinitely more fragile and for which courier insurance is essentially worthless.

Maybe there is hope. UPS temporarily lost a guitar that I had purchased from GC on the east coast. During the first week, the status on the UPS system said a label had been prepared but the guitar had not been delivered to UPS. I called UPS and they said to call GC. GC said they had given the guitar to UPS and had a signed receipt from the driver. However, the UPS driver signed for 20 items, and there was not a detailed list of those items. After it missed the originally scheduled delivery date by a few days, I resumed calling UPS and GC every day to try to get someone to go find it. There were several conversations where both parties gave me misleading information about the status. I guess I bugged them enough because they eventually did find it after three weeks in the UPS "corporate overgoods" center - their lost and found. Once found, they gave it a new tracking number to ship it to me. But just two days before it was to be delivered, I was told verbally that it was actually being returned to the sender. The UPS website still showed it was headed my way so I kept my fingers crossed. Luck finally came my way, and the guitar arrived. When it was finally delivered it was in a massive container made from three regular 20"x20"x20" shipping boxes that had been taped together. I doubt that either GC or UPS would have packaged it that way. I'm suspecting it went for a three week joy ride, but thankfully came back safe and unharmed.

I definitely share your frustration; FEDEX’s trick in our local area is to mark a shipment delivered even though it isn’t. I’ve searched all around the house several times because I’ve gotten a delivery notice. Now that I have cameras I know it’s not true. The “delivered” packages generally show up a day or two later. Don’t expect quick respones from FEDEX either - they took over a week to respond to my last inquiry about a missing delivery.
