I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of this series, especially when he gets to the Whitebook guitar. The intro to Part 1 has the best pics of his Whitebook that I've ever seen. The medallion inlay on the peghead is unique to only 2 Whitebooks. I think Carly ended up with the other. Here's a link in case other's are interested.

Thanks for sharing. What iconic songs and that J-50 is just perfection.
Ironically, I am sitting here today during an ice storm re-learning Fire & Rain. I never have really nailed it down, but today it's all coming together.

I’ve accepted the fact that I’ll never truly be able to replicated his fingerpicking

Part of that comes from the unusual way he fingers his chords. He plays the A chord upside down from the way I do using the first finger on the B string. That's what give him that 'snap'.

"I carried it into a room where Paul McCartney and George Harrison were willing to listen to me play Something in the Way She Moves..."
What a storied life and career. Bravo, Mr. Taylor, one of my guitar and singer/songwriter heroes!

It's very cool to be in the same room with him and with all those guitars. I imagine more parts to this video will be coming...

I can't wait for the rest of them, how frequently will they release them?
I can't wait for the Yamaha one he's got there. |

Oh I've accepted that too - JT is a true master. To get close and clean is the best I can hope for.

If I had to choose one artist, whose fingerpicking style and sound I would want to replicate...it would be James Taylor...hands down. His playing style & the tone he coaxes from whatever guitar he happens to be playing has a calming effect on me, and I am in wonderment over his unique ways of fingering chords. I’ll never, ever get to his level...but I’d sure like to.
I can’t wait for more episodes of this. Thanks for posting this! |
