Love all animals - enough to know that I shouldn't have one. Wouldn't be fair to the animal because it would be alone too much.

Definitely allergic to cats - been living with 3 at my Mom's the last three years while taking care of her and my Dad who just passed. I can't wait until the day when I can wake up and not look like I've been smoking something.

I love all animals but enjoy traveling too much to worry about a pet.

We love all animals, have a farm sanctuary, do home care for the wildlife center, and at one time 20% of all fosters that went through our county's humane society were at our place.

Yeah, hours every day of cleaning...

Definitely a dog household here - I didn't grow up with them, but I've become a dog lover in recent years. There are two little guys here - a Schnoodle, and a Yorkie/Cairn mix who we got as a rescue - who are just delights. Most of the time

My wife is seriously allergic to cats, thank goodness.

I have been both a dog and cat person at various times, but for the past 20 years I’ve enjoyed the simplicity of living pet-free....

Three cats. Siblings. 5 years old. They hate each other and don’t like me all that much, either.

Grew up longing for a dog--both my parents had them while growing up. All we had were goldfish and a couple of turtles, which died too soon for the delicate psyche of a sensitive kid. Once married, Bob & I lived only in no-pets apartments. Until one day after moving to Chicago, we were surprised by mice. Asked the landlord for an exterminator; he crossed out the "no pets" clause on our lease and said "Get a cat."

So we've been owned by kitties ever since. Still would like a dog (Bob wants a big sloppy affectionate mutt), but he hasn't the time nor I the inclination to walk one. And cats live longer (for the most part)--so there is less frequent bereavement.

We have had 6 cats in our lives--singleton, then pair, then singletons, then pair, then singleton, then trio, and now a pair. None of them liked each other, despite all our careful adherence to all the steps in the "new cat introduction" dance prescribed by the shelters which provided four of them (one was a stray who insisted on moving in, the other a foundling from a friend whose girlfriend was severely allergic). I tested +++ allergic to my first cat, but never developed symptoms I didn't already have. And my allergies have gotten milder over the years.

Animals rule. I have a tiny lizard that's easy to look after though.

One indoor 18 year old Tabby named Molly . Eats like a horse , cant keep up with her . All other neighbors , around 30-40 have dogs , but only 2 - 3 WALK THEM . Im thinkin , what do they do , leave them caged up all day ? Never had a Dog other than a Stray lab found by my father on Key West Navy base ( Early 60s ) , took home , were going to visit some people and I begged him to bring a leash . I was about 7 , he's didn't , Dog ran after old Model T Ford, and that the end of him . Cats ever since .

We love both and have always had both. If we were ever made to choose between them though, I'd choose cats and I'm sure my husband would choose dogs.

Have you guys ever seen the Cat's Diary? I did not write this myself and I don't know who did. It's been floating around the internet for years.

Quote:
Date: Mon, 18 Jun 2001 14:58:35 -0500
Subject: HUMOR: CAT'S DIARY

DAY 752 - My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre dangling objects.
They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal. The
only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild
satisfaction get from ruining the occasional piece of furniture. Tomorrow I
may eat another houseplant.

DAY 761 - Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet
while they were walking almost succeeded, must try this at the top of the
stairs. In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once
again induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair...must try this on
their bed.

DAY 762 - Slept all day so that I could annoy my captors with sleep
depriving, incessant pleas for food at ungodly hours of the night.

DAY 765 - Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body, in
attempt
to make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear into
their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat
I was...Hmmm. Not working according to plan.

DAY 768 - I am finally aware of how sadistic they are. For no good reason I
was chosen for the water torture. This time however it included a burning
foamy chemical called "shampoo." What sick minds could invent such a
liquid.
My only consolation is the piece of thumb still stuck between my teeth.

DAY 771 - There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was
placed in solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise
and
smell the foul odor of the glass tubes they call "beer." More importantly I
overheard that my confinement was due to MY power of "allergies." Must
learn
what this is and how to use it to my advantage.

DAY 774 - I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe
snitches.
The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is
obviously a half-wit. The Bird on the other hand has got to be an
informant.
He has mastered their frightful tongue. (something akin to mole speak) and
speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due to
his current placement in the metal room his safety is assured. But I can
wait, it is only a matter of time....

There is a Dog Diary too, which is basically,
8am Dogfood! My favorite!
9am Walk! My favorite!
10am Mom! My favorite!
3pm Kids home from school! My favorite!
4pm ooh bath. bummer
5pm Dad's home! My favorite!
etc.

I am a dog person, have had several over the years, but right now it wouldn't be fair to the dog if I had one living with me. So I have several around town, and the country, that I visit when I need a dog fix. I prefer labs, and German Wire Hairs, but most dogs and I get along very well.

Cats quickly realize I'm allergic to them so they love to spend time with me. I tolerate the little things.
