Default Fingerstyle Duets

Hey folks, AG just published an article I wrote on playing fingerstyle duets, which I had a blast working up. Lots of demos of various ways to play tunes together. Only scratching the surface, of course, but hopefully there are some useful ideas in there. Here's a performance of a complete duet, St Anne's Reel, from the article:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sRcHPalCFO0

Fiddle players would play this one really fast, but I thought it sounded nice harmonized and played at a more moderate tempo. It'd be cool to hear other people try this one!

The article, along with full tab to St Anne's Reel, and lots of other shorter examples appears to be available online for free viewing, here:

Wonderful arrangement for St. Anne's Reel, Doug.
I think, fingerstyle guitar duets are still untapped waters...looking forward to hear more that.

Loved the harmonies between the guitars. With the duet there is a bouncy feel to this song. Really enjoyed. Great job guys.

Hi Doug - I see this is a very old post, but hope this will reach you. I cannot access the article you mention on AG - presumably becuase so much tome hass passed. Is ther any chance I could have a copy of your article on fingerstyle guitar duets, please? There is not much info out there, and there also seems to be a lack of duets in the intermediate range. Cheers, ROb

A blast from the past! AG reorganized how they do things and removed all the old online stuff they used to share. This article was in the Dec 2012 issue, which they do still have as back issues, or you might find it in a library. Shawn Colvin on the cover.
