I used to use a more typical steel string guitar posture but now I use a modified classical posture, and often use a strap when sitting. It cured some bad wrist pain I was having and it makes difficult fingerings easier.

After last years' injury, I was having wrist pain after 5 minutes in the "normal" sitting position, and bought a De Oro Flamenco Loco leg rest, which elevates the neck in an easily adjustable manner. It is taking a little getting used to, but no more wrist pain, period. Made a huge difference, and got me playing a lot more.
There are lots of choices for these types of devices.
