Default Misty

The venerable "Misty." Hope you enjoy.

As an aside, I'm always surprised how much better the Kingpin sounds in front as opposed to when playing it...

Excellent...!
A little tip, though, rub a candle over the strings before recordings to minimize the string squeaking. It's old trick Billy Bauer told me about.

I'll have to try that sometime! These strings are brand new...

Thanks all for listening.

Excellent arrangement Jeff.
I have been very tempted by the Kingpin. I sounds sweet recorded acoustically.
How do you like the Godin P90?

Wow Jeff. That was really great; you certainly know your way around the fretboard.

Thanks everybody!

Outsidenote (love that name, btw)-- I actually like the plugged in voice of the Kingpin best...very old school, a poor man's ES-125, if you will. It seems the Godin Kingpin is a little less hot than the modern p90's Gibson is using these days...it's a more vintage voice, which is nice for jazz as it doesn't push the amp to hard as to distort it.

I think about it more and more, and I really beleive the Kingpin's just might be the ultimate "working man's" archtop-- inexpensive, well made, resistant to temperature/climate change, and they sound good to boot.

The funny thing about the acoustic voice of the Kingpin is how much louder and fuller it sounds out in front of it. It's not the most enjoyable guitar to play unplugged--for the player--particularly the bass gets lost...but out in front, it sounds quite nice, if a little quiet compared to my solid wood archtops.

But overall, I love this guitar...and while I own much "better" more expensive instruments, I won't be getting rid of the Kingpin anytime soon, if ever.
