Naw cotten not needed at all. There’s a world of full face helmets that have passed 2016 ECE, 2015 Snell and DOT for well under $300.00. Bell has been blowing out their Bell Star’s for a year now which passed every test standard on the planet. Quite possible the best helmet in the world let alone for $249.00. They also where selling their Vortex (Snell 2015, ECE and DOT) helmet for $89.00. Scorpion has probably 4 or 5 at or under $300.00 that have passed the same standards. Shoei has their RF-SR helmet which you can often find at $389.00 and even the world’s biggest seller, best bang for the buck, most protective helmet the Shoei RF-1200 can easily be found for low $400.00’s.

As motorcycle discussions go I know not to tread on other folks safety margins. To each their own and wear what works That said there is a universe of great full face helmets well, well under a grand even with a Cardo or Sena.

I have a low mileage 10 year old car. The original tires still have quite a lot of tread. I was told that 10 year old tires should/must be replaced. Is this a government regulation? I am not looking forward to buying 4 new tires unnecessarily.

With 10 year old tires, I'd be a lot more concerned about cracking and dry rot than tread wear...

Lean in and do a real close up inspection of the rubber...

I'm discovering that LOTS of things unexpectedly have expiration dates. I was discussing this with a friend yesterday, and joked that I'm glad people don't. He laughed, and confided that when his time comes to graduate this life, he wants to be cremated. Then he smiled a crooked smile. "When I told my wife about it this morning, she went ahead and made me an appointment for Tuesday."

+1. I read the Cycle Gear ads I receive; they are always discounting some of their helmets, including Shoei, Bell, Bilt, Sedici... Lots of good stuff for under $300.

Since we are on the subject of helmets .
Fit is of the utmost importance . Buying a helmet just because you know someone that likes theirs or based on price is not very wise .
Just like shoes , you need to try them first and then buy .
