Default Koa / Cocobolo OM Build

Hey ladies and gents, starting on my 4th guitar build. Looking for advice and comments as I go along. Koa back and side set from LMI, Cocobolo binding, Bearclaw Spruce top with Ziricote fretboard and bridge. I recently picked up a small Shark machine as this one will have a custom signature inlayed down the fretboard. Should be fun to play around with!

Alrighty enough talk, picture time!

This was the first ever project done on my new Shark. Ohh this is going to be fun!

This is something I tried which worked well, however I really questioned it, as it was too easy. And when something is too easy its generally wrong. I pretty much just laid the braces in my radius dish, and used a sharp hand plane to take the material off. they came out with a nice radius...Should I be sanding them as usual instead?

Aww, here I was hoping to see a koa top, cocobolo back/sides.

Looking good though. Great koa set. All my favorite things, crinkle curl, dark stripe, and one big wave in the grain

Now there is a clever idea and if it was your idea then I reckon you would be a clever man. It works like those jigs I have seen Robbie O'brien use. Just check the radius and if it is fine then no worries, the only thing I would worry about without ever having done it myself would be that the spruce springs up in the centre a bit giving you a lesser curve. Your planed joint would be better than a sanded one. I just sand mine but then I also use a epoxy to glue them. Next time though I will give that method a shot, well done.

Unless I'm missing it, you didn't mention the top wood... only the most important part.

Nice looking Rosette, I would love to get a Shark as well.
Is the center tile Cocobolo, with no purfling I would be worried about it bleeding into the top.

I was a little worried about that, but there was almost none. Nothing a little bit of mineral spirits didnt clean right up. But if you look at this shot its actually in inlay in an inlay. No bleeding that I could see.
