Default Two Great Quotes (about guitars of course!) Add on Yours!

Two great quotes that help explain why we love them so much. If you know of more great guitar quotes please add them on below. Thanks!

David Gilmour:
"It's a magical thing, the guitar. It allows you to be the whole band in one, to play rhythm and melody, sing over the top. And as an instrument for solos, you can bend notes, draw emotional content out of tiny movements, vibratos and tonal things which even a piano can't do."

I like both of those - they both convey the allure and mystery of playing the guitar.

“I have never seen anyone in a bad mood playing guitar”.

Even guys playing straight 12 bar blues, they’re smiling,
it’s like an inside joke, they know something you don’t know.
Playing guitar can be spiritual if you let it guide you down that path.
It is both stress relief and joyful, like a child playing in the yard.

Someone told Chet Atkins, "Man, that guitar sure sounds good!" Chet then put the guitar on the floor and asked him, "Ok, how does it sound now?"

"You're good, but you're no Chet Atkins."

I'm pretty sure I got that right. Said to Chet after he played acoustic guitar outside near the pool on a cruise ship for a time.

My old band used to have a running joke. We played a gig somewhere and someone came up to our drummer at set break and said: "You're pretty good, but you're no Don Henley". Everyone cracked up and it became a catchphrase we'd tell our drummer friends.

Not to derail the thread, but I saw an interview with Glenn Frey where he said Henley was an "ok drummer" and he wasn't kidding. Nice.

OK, not a quote, but an observation (but you can quote me!)

Guitars are like Martinis: one isn't enough -- two are too many, three isn't enough -- four are too many ....

PS: I'm aware of the grammatical error, it is intentional to maintain parallel construction.

Actually this one comes from someone on this forum I think, regarding buying guitars (missing one you had your eye on...): Don't worry, guitars are like buses in the city, if you miss one another one will come along in 15 minutes or so!
