Ed,
That is cool...thanks for sharing that. Calvary Chapel is a great place to be...solid teaching, great music, and great people....you can't do better. I wish we had one near where I live, but it's about 1 1/2 hours to the nearest one. BTW, they do have a web site at www.calvarychapel.org. Scott

It's kinda funny but we have like 8 Calvary Chapels within two hours driving time. One of them is about 100 yards of my house.

What part of the state is Ontario, OR? We're real familiar with Applegate Christian Fellowship...a Calvary church.

I'm about as eastern Oregon as you can get. I've heard great things about Applegate Christian Fellowship. I live about an hour from Boise ID.

I've been through there before...a little dryer than the western part, I recall.

Applegate is an awesome fellowship and Pastor Jon is a great teacher...rock solid. I just wish I lived closer to visit there once in a while.

New York is a bit of a haul from Oregon...probably not a trip you want to make every week to visit Jon's church. I met his worship leader last week when we were in Mexico at their mission. He plays a Taylor 710ce cedar top...nice sounding guitar. His son is there with my son...both players. He has a Larivee dread, and my son has his 314...they make music. My son leads worship down there...I sure wish I could have done that at 19.

Glad to hear there are lots of Christian players here who use their talent for his glory. I am a professional player (southern gospel mainly) and have been blessed with the caliber of people I get to work with. While there are some who are only in it for the money, I have found most to have a real desire to follow the leading of the Lord in their services, and don't go by pre-recorded music, or by a script that they rehearse. I do agree with the "Jam For The Lamb" statement. It's stencilled on my road cases. Nobody steals your stuff when they know it's used for God's work.
J-Jesus A-Always M-Magnified also check out ggjam.com I try to make it every year to this thing, some great players here. In God's Service, Ps 33:3 ...play skillfully with a loud noise... |

Just got into Taylors. (814ce) I've owned lots of guitars but the 814 is my dream. How great that God would allow me to own such an instrument.
I lead Sr. High worship with a full jammin band & also play for the adult worship in a fairly large Church. Very contemporary band, great hearts & very fun!

Hey Worship Leaders..
Just curious... Do any of you play electric guitar as well. I personally used to for about 1-1/2 years but now that I actually lead as opposed to just playing, I play exclusivly acoustic. I used to switch, i.e., 3-4 electric songs then switch to acoustic for 3-4 more until the end of worship. In some ways I miss playing electric but I know that I am an acoustic guy at heart. I had a custom "Artist" style body guitar with two Duncan humbuckers going into a Digitech mult-effects processor into a Fendor Princeton Chorus that was miked. If I had to do it again, I would change every piece. Probably just a Strat into a POD to the board. Who plays electric and what is your set up? I would also like to welcome the new folks to this thread. It's been a blessing to "e-fellowship" about worship. YBIC, |
