Default Got to hang out with Bill Wise tonight....

One of his customers was playing at a local coffee house and Bill brought a couple of guitars he wanted to hear being played, so I A/B ed them for him for a bit.....

One was a Cedar/EIR prototype he's working on, the other was this one....

Both very nice as you'd imagine.....my ear liked the Ziricote the best.

Bill's a real nice guy and builds very, very nice instruments....

Lucky guy. I haven't met Bill but have sold several of his guitars to VERY satisfied customers, and have a two great SJs in stock.

I've really liked the ones I've played. I've been seriously tempted on a couple of occasions, but I've found that the 25.6" scale length and 1 3/4" nut width don't really suit me. In all other respects I've liked them very much.

Is the prototype a new guitar design?

Bill's shop is between Saginaw and Bay City (near Delta College)

The new design has some changes to the neck and bracing......not at liberty to give details

Bill was a very successful automotive engineer (with several patents to his name) His designs just keep evolving, and always for the better.

A Charis is still on my wish list. Bill is one of the very few people who makes cedar-topped guitars that I like.

I played two of his Cedar topped guitars last night (and several others over the years) and they definitely have my "ring" to them than most. Just slightly brighter and more string separation to my ear.
