That makes sense.
Well, the consensus is that attempting to bleach ebony is not a great idea. More importantly, it appears as though bleaching it will not give me the color that I hope to get. whm |

Thanks to Earl’s mention of the West Marine store on Dimond Boulevard in Anchorage, I called and confirmed that they carry the FSR oxalic acid gel, which seems like the simplest way to proceed.
Based on the responses in this thread, it seems likely that the result of bleaching ebony won’t be attractive enough to put on a musical instrument. But my only out of pocket expense will be for the small container of FSR gel; I have lots of ebony buttons to experiment upon. So I’m going to give it a try and see what the results look like.
