Default Centre Seam Separation ????

Seasons greetings to all.

I have an Adirondack guitar with varnish finish.

Is it possible for the centre seam to separate irregularly. No evidence of separation from the bridge down for about 2.5 inches, then there is a 2 inch crack in the finish ( not sure if the wood underneath is also cracked ). Then it it perfect for about an inch and the there is another 1 inch crack in the finish, and then from there to the bottom, about 3 inches it looks perfect.

It this possible ? Can the varnish crack and not the wood ? Can the Adirondack crack in an irregular pattern. If I look really closely it looks like the cracks do NOT follow the centre seam exactly.

Thanks
daniel

Yes it's possible for the finish to crack but not the wood and yes photo's would help. One way to possibly see what is going on is to put a powerful light source inside the guitar to see if any light leaks through a crack in the top. Do it in a dark room.
