Default Concerns when ordering a Lefty? Multiscale?

After years of thought and number crunching, I have decided to commission my first custom build.

Being lefty has meant that I have had to more or less try rightys at stores and then order blind.... but this is obviously a bit bigger of a decision (and price range).

Do builders have any real difficulty in building left handed guitars. I have had bad experiences with repairs, and often have to take them back a few times to get them done right, as no one really takes the guitar through its paces once ´set up´.

Looking to go with a fingerstyle instrument and possibly multiscale, which could cause even more of a headache.

Currently own a 614ce taylor (maple back and sides) and looking to go with something with a bit more mellow tone. That thing is bright (in all the right ways) and i want something to compliment her nicely.

Thanks for the advice!

I'm lefty and had my first hand build instrument made in 1989. Most of the luthiers today are willing to do a left handed guitar with no upcharge and the outcome is as good as a right handed guitar. Cut-aways or fan frets might cause some more deviation from normal building process thus cost you little more.
I'd talk with the luthier about all these points and also ask if he has done a fan fret lefty already. If he hasn't and if he's confident that it will be a perfect chance for a first time build, then I wouldn't hesitate to order that guitar. Good luck .
