Without knowing the current saddle height and bridge thickness, the question has no answer. In general, the sum of those two measurements (AKA string height above the top) should be no less than 7/16". That is the important parameter when the concern is tone and volume.
Taylor NT's = easily adjusted neck angle = no more worries about low saddles. |

Even with Taylors NT system it's still a bit easier to lower the saddle but again as mentioned it depends. On a Taylor NT I won't go lower that 1/32nd to adjust the action at the saddle. Minor changes are fine so long as there is enough saddle height to remove in the first place.
The older Taylors are a bit less forgiving. Best answer has already been stated... It depends |

update: my buddy contacted Taylor and explained the situation. The folks at Taylor are kind enough to send him replacement shims and labels. Now he just need to get a new saddle and maybe find another local luthier/tech who’s more reliable than the authorized tech if he doesn’t want to reset the neck himself. Or maybe I should do it for him. Those who have done neck reset on NT neck, any tips and tricks you want to share?

suggestion
Buy a saddle from Taylor. No reason to fiddle around with ill-matched 'replacement' parts when the real thing is a phone call away.

Whilst i thinkt the shim system is incredibly simple, I have had to fix guitars for broken tops shattered sides and cracked necks from people attempting to change the shims themselves

a thought
Sometimes we're amazed at the extent of tool illiteracy. And there seems to be no end of folks who attempt to do a procedure for which they have no understanding.

rick-slo has it right, it depends. It is player dependent. I voted neck angle adjustment first , but that is for my personal playing style. A heavy handed bluegrasser is going to need a much different set up than a light handed fingerstyle player?

Noted. Do you have ideas what these people did to cause such damage?
