I wonder what chord it will strum on its way out?

Maybe it will do a little cross-picking.

How much musical ability does the dog possess?

Default Do Casein picks dissolve in stomach acid?

A vet I know suggested a teaspoon of Hydrogen peroxide so the dog will throw up what he/she swallowed.

My guess would be yes. Casein is water soluble with long exposure and considered biodegradable. However, I like the vet approach best.

A thought. Do some research on the kinds of acids in a mammal stomach and see if you can reproduce it. If you can, PM me and I'll send you a free casein blem to test it.

All the Best,
Scott

I would be reluctant to adopt that strategy with something likely to pass. Damage to intestines is bad, but perforated esophagus is often lethal.

Given what the digestion period is for dogs (Google says 8-10 hours) I feel like the OP may already have the answer we're all eager to hear...

Default Sad, but true.

It is sad that, unless I missed something, no one actually answered the OP's question. Jokes aside, I have a dog and, if it were me, I would like some better advice than you'all gave. Have fun!

I would say it's sad if we knew and were purposely withholding. I have no idea how to go about testing if stomach acid would eat through casein, short of getting my own bile (force myself to throw up?) onto one of Scott's picks. Sorry to say, I'm not about to do that for science.

Oh wow, I always figured if my dog ate a baited hook that would be the end of it!

On a sort of related subject last year we were ice fishing and had caught a few Northern Pike. My young Aussi shepherd was nosing around by the fish and one of them latched on to her tounge... For anyone not familiar with Pike, they have a mouth full of fairly sizable teeth that not only have a needle sharp point, but they are curved backwards and the inside edge is sharp like a razor... anything that goes in that mouth doesnt come back out in very good shape, when one gets ahold of your fingers about all you can do is grit your teeth and hope the fish lets go before it starts thrashing and shreds you up real good.

So anyhow, everyone is just holding their breath, wondering what to do... and against all odds the dog somehow knew better than to freak out and start tugging, the fish never started thrashing and eventually let go. The dog is a fair bit more careful around fish after that one though.

Reading through the post's, there have been a lot of experiences shared.

The only thing I can offer is to let nature takes it's course. Keep and eye on your dog and if the dog is being lethargic call your vet.

But by this time, it may be through it's system.
