9v Phantom Power
I wanted to test out a dpa mic alongside other pickups. The dpa is already hooked up to a guitar jack.
Is there a cheap device to simply pass through the signal and get 9v to it without an additional preamp? Mixer has 48v phantom. |

I don't have an answer to your question, but I'm wondering why you are looking for a 9v supply? DPA microphones should be good with the standard 48v.

There are plenty of inexpensive 48v phantom power supplies available on Amazon and even used ones on eBay.

DPA 4061. From what I’ve seen to use 48v they sell some converter to get it to 9, but that’s for the microdot connector which I don’t have. |

My mixer does 48v phantom, but my research indicates that doesn’t run one of these mini mics at 9v, and saw folks saying I could fry the mic if I tried. Most recommendations I saw searching here were for dual input preamps like the Grace Felix to provide the 9v power to the mic, or on the cheaper end of the scale, a Baggs mix pro. I also saw a number of schematics where folks are making their own, but I’m not great at soldering and would rather buy one if possible. Thanks for the input. |

The 4061 spec appears to say it will work on 5-10 vdc. RODE makes a VXLR+ adapter which can provide 3-5 vdc for 'plugin power' for electret type mics from a 48v phantom power source. The end that the electret mic would be plugged into is an 1/8" TRS type jack. I believe the tip connection is for the audio signal and the ring connection supplies the 'plugin power' to the mics electronics to power an integrated preamp. It's similar to the adapter DPA sells $$$, but a lower voltage.
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...r_adaptor.html You mention your DPA is connected to a guitar 'jack'. Jack conveys a female connector. Is it wired to a jack in a guitar body? Is this a 1/4" and is it TS or TRS? Can you link some of the schematic builds you found? DPA4061..... https://www.dpamicrophones.com/laval...nal-microphone The post in this thread seems to suggest the DPA4060 series can be powered by a RODE VXLR+ https://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=190171.0 Podcastage has a review of the VXLR+. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbgWbTdkTag |

That’s exactly what I’m looking for. It is a 1/4 jack to plug a guitar cable into soldered to the mic cable ready to install in a guitar (if I wanted to drill a second hole). My assumption was that it is trs (I thought that was needed for power?), but it didn’t come with that info (bought used). I obviously don’t know what I’m doing very well. I’m thinking if I used one of these devices and a 3.5mm to 1/4 trs that might work for a quick/easy way to test this all out letting the mixer handle both channels before I decide on permanent changes or expensive preamps? |

9v Phantom Power
Since there’s not a ton of info out there on this topic, if somebody finds this the adapter works but I was getting excessive noise. May have been the room.
The next day I recieved my used Rane AP13. Took a couple weeks scouting but 60 bucks shipped to the door. Yea, it’s a rack unit but appears to be a good unit one can acquire for a good price for testing the dual pickup/9v phantom mic waters before dropping a lotta change on something. |
