Default RIP Frank Bonner (WKRP)

What a beloved character and person. Frank Bonner, known to most of us as Herb Tarlek from WKRP, passed away on Wed. One of my two favorite characters from that show.

RIP Frank - you made so many of us smile and laugh.

Herb was a great character and the theme song was one of the greatest TV show theme songs of all time.

RIP

Great show, great ensemble. And, anyone who was involved in radio during the 1970s recognized each one of the characters. Even the infamous ‘Turkeys Away,’ episode was based on a true story!

It took me about a week at the station I worked at to realize that there was nothing fictional about that show!

WKRP has been my favorite tv show ever since it’s premiere. That’s one show that just takes me back. Every character on that show was just absolutely perfect. RIP Mr. Bonner, you created a lot of joy in the world.

I heard a radio host yesterday say the very same thing.
Isn't it funny how most sit coms are pretty far fetched, but this one seems to have been right on.

Great show, I was a big fan. Frank nailed the role with Herb.

What I loved about this sitcom, was that the characters started out as two-dimensional, and through the series, were allowed to grow and show their humanity. Really great scriptwriting, and as mentioned, a great ensemble to pull it off.

It's one of those shows where I can remember almost every episode.

One of the best episodes ever. "I thought turkeys could fly".

RIP "Herb."

Most sitcoms have 1 or 2 characters who stand out - among all the others who don't. Not so with WKRP. Every actor who walked into a scene was a perfectly-cast, well-played gem. Which made for a cleverly entertaining show.

I'm glad producers and writers didn't decide to start adding new characters in later seasons to try and punch up ratings. Seldom works out well IMHO. Right show, right time, right people.

Herb Tarlek had the greatest wardrobe for the part he played. The perfect “salesman” outfit. White shoes with matching belt, plaid plants and loud, loud ties. Too much fun. The show was so wonderful to step into each week. It was like visiting with the family. I miss all those characters.

Rest In Peace Frankie...you will be sorely missed by more than you could have imagined.
