X30 Emerald arrived the good and bad

Ok, first the bad. I ordered my Emerald in March and it arrived this week. Soon after I ordered, Emerald changed their format to the online custom options system they now have - so, maybe my order was lost in that process (or I just may not have know their system well enough). So, Emerald reached out to me once to order the custom top (royal ebony) I ordered. They did not return my email to discuss pricing. I'd expected to be able to discuss custom options but they never reached out to me. Wasn't going to go crazy - just wanted to upgrade electronics and make sure to have a standard pin bridge. I received the standard LR Bags system and the pinless bridge. So, not what I wanted. For 3K - Emerald needs to get their stuff together. I've seen multiple complaints here of them not returning emails. I received no notification of shipping - lol, blessing and a curse I suppose, but it just 'arrived'.

That out of the way - the x30 sounds really, really good and is a keeper. Toss the strings - players choice, but I like the John Pearse slightly light so far. Action is great, a bit stiffer than some on the high register. Great finger picker, very good strummer. The bass is not overly heavy for a jumbo - the highs are still what we want to hear. Drop D tuning is a dream - but (in this age of ever increasing bright acoustics) don't order an x30 if you don't want bass, lol. The pinless bridge is ok and it really is sharp looking - the B and E gave me some grief but I'll get used to it.

AND, I got a cool mug that works perfectly! Despite the customer service complaints - hope this doesn't come off too jaded - I'm absolutely thrilled to own this guitar!

Congrats on your new X30. Sorry about the glitches, but hopefully they don't outweigh the pleasures of your new Emerald....

It's a beauty, but I agree about the level of customer service that you received being subpar. Being great on the technological side is only half the job when you have no dealer network and offer so many possible options. Who's doing customer service now that Chloe and Simon are gone?

I worked with Davy, who was very responsive through the sales process, slower after when I asked about my tinny B string.
