Default New camera - I like this effect.

Panasonic Lumix DC-FZ80 4K ( USA version might be known as FZ82 )
I like the drama of this 'art' setting.

The zoom is nice too.

And the panorama has a nice 180 degree sweep that can even be increased to an even wider sweep!

Good camera and nice photos!

I bought the Lumix DMC-FZ200 with Leica lens about 4 years ago and it's been a great camera. I have a YouTube channel where I post woodworking videos - David Falkner Woodworking - and most of the videos on there are shot with this camera.

The Lumix line is very good. Panasonic has been very innovative in their cameras and lenses.

One thing I really like about mirrorless digital cameras is being able to see the effect in the electronic viewfinder.

These are great. It reminds me of an effect we used to get in the dark room by flashing white light on the photo between developer and fixer.

I love the shot of the tree - Trees in Australia seem to be some of the most interesting and diverse I've ever seen.

These are from Dorrigo Rainforrest NSW and Phillip Island.

Very cool photos and congrats on the new camera. I have had a Sony A100 SLR for about 10 years now and love it. Pardon my photo ignorance but is it a type of lens you are using for these effects?

Most of the new digital cameras have a variety of effects built in. The "art" effect is to emulate an oil painting. I use monochrome a lot and some cameras have a effect where 1 object is in color while the rest of the image is monochrome. On the newer non-DSLR mirrorless cameras, many come equipped with an electronic viewfinder and you can see the effects applied as you compose the photo.

Yes Marty, HHP is spot on - the camera has an impressive selection of effects programmed in the menu and they're interesting and easy to use and as HHP points out, they are all visible through the viewfinder - just scroll through them till you find one you like!

Bruce, I thoroughly enjoy your photography. The Art look is interesting especially on the boardwalk ocean scene. My camera days are back in the stone age. Canon A-1 35mm and a bunch of lenses. Keep 'em coming!

I looked it up and that is a cool camera, pretty impressive zoom range for a fixed lens camera. Panasonic has a deal with Zeiss and I noticed your lens carries the "Vario" designation which is what Zeiss always used with zoom lens so Zeiss probably at least designed the lens.

I liked the 20mm-1200mm zoom range over some of the other 'bridge' cameras available because of that wide-angle starting point.
I like landscapes and 20mm appealed to me.

There was a more expensive but nice Canon Powershot SX60HS with a swiveling screen and a focal range starting at 21mm ... but no panorama.

The store also had a sale on Nikon cameras at the time, great prices but I found the Coolpix P900 with it's 24mm-2000mm focal range a bit of a monster of a camera, it's like the Hummer of bridge cameras.

One tiny mod I did with the FZ80 was to carefully paint (yes..paint!) the tiny ribbed dial that adjusts the diopter in the viewfinder.
I accidentally bumped it a few days back and thought I'd broken the camera!
Couldn't get it to focus on anything!
There is a slightly longer 'extended' rib on the dial that serves as a position indicator but is .. or was, very hard to see (I need glasses for reading) so I very carefully painted it.

My favorite part of my camera is the EVF. Mine is an outboard model that connects via the accessory shoe. I swear I can see better through the EVF than with my glasses. Best of all, it will tilt 90 degrees which is great with macro shots.

Neat looking shots! I've had the older FZ 70 model for a couple of years. I'm very pleased with the photos, & effects, but it's still cumbersome to carry around for me. I recently bought a Sony HX80. It only has a 24-750 mm lens, but it's the size of cigarette pack, with a pop up EVF, for when there's too much backlight to see a usual P&S screen...

Happy shutterbugging!

Don

Only 24 - 750mm?
... and it's the size of a pack of cigarettes?
No wai.
I think a zoom that went to 750mm would be longer than my arm.
You must mean 24-75.

I have to admit the new FZ80 is larger than my old Olympus SP565-UZ - so much so that I'm now looking for a new camera bag, however it still looks relatively small next to the Nikon P900 monster.
