Naphtha worked well when I removed a pickguard the other day off a Martin spruce top. I read the other day that alcohol isn't the answer. IIRC, the remarks made said alcohol isn't good for the finish. But, I'll tell you, after a couple of beers, I'm finished, then usually fall asleep for a couple hours, then usually roll around awake the rest of the night. Sometimes I just get up, dress in all black, walk in the dark to the main road, and play toro with all those nocturnal mini vans speeding along with the all those stick figure decals. Good luck.
